Well, I believe that I have completed my last quest for the ship. That would be the writing of a wee ditty as set forth those many years ago. Inspiration was long in coming on this one as I did not want to settle for some trite easy song for this. Then, like lightning it hit me packing up from a Gyldenholt practice; Won't you go White Scarf go. To the tune of Will ya go lassie go. The captain will have to confirm whether or not that was indeed was my last required quest as him tracking the completion of my quests was part of the bargain, but I'm pretty sure I'm good now.
So the shad is holding up pretty well save one loop, aft starboard, and I need to replace that. I've trimmed the tassels away from the loops making it easier to set up and take down. Still need to work out some better way of fixing the mid side sections to the supports to keep them from leaning towards the center of the ship. That is all. Cary on.
I'm proud to announce:
Lord Big Dickie Kingswood of Longtown, Defender of the Scotch
(which is to say Lord Erasmus MacBain)
is now a Harp Argent for Whiskey!
*huzzah*
So we only had 3 at practice tonight but I didn't evoke the Raz rule, well not right away.
Let it be known, at Great Western War XI;
Gabriel Archer was promoted to Able Sailor - Artillerist
Dylan of Cardiff was promoted to Able Sailor - Rigger's Mate
Arye ben Ezra was promoted to Able Sailor - Boatswain's Mate
Jaime Muir was promoted to Officer - Quatermaster
Marcos de la Cruz was promoted to Officer - Master of the Guns
Also, Marcos was designated as Lead Boarder;
Magdelene van den Velde, Raphael ben Gideon, and Diego Antonio Vega de Palma were designated with the rank of Sargent-Marine in the boarding party.
So, I hadn't planned on fighting in the Queen's Champion tourney, what with the newborn and all, but as the tournament neared, I couldn't help myself, Edward has always been an inspiration to me (can't imagine why) and I've heard such great things about them from my good friends, like Gull and Viv. I've also gotten reports of them really trying to get to know the rapier community and the fighters there and I wanted to make sure they had a good liaison. I figured that even
So I worked the last 2 days on a new cook table for the camp. Since I was working up plans on the fly (my CAD computer took a dumper) it has been a little more challenging than I would have liked with more scrap wood than I'm comfortable leaving. Fortunately, I bought way too much of the oak so I didn't have any supply issues. Well, we'll have some nice hard wood to add to the fire at the beaching anyway. I'm no were near done at this point. The bottom section is fabricated but needs a lot of sanding and then staining. I've not eve begun to work out the upper portion and associated lighting.
Done and done; dusacks for the Cap'n. Easy project, just about anyone could make these, provided you've a drill, a jig saw and an angle grinder with a sanding wheel.
Eric/camp perimeter pole project had become quite long in the tooth so since I was already out in the shed with the tools out I drilled the holes for the spikes in the wooden poles, cut the heads off the spikes and pounded them into the holes. So easy I don't know why I've been dragging my feet on this one.
I just came in and cleaned up from making the post mods suggested by our good captain as well as making 2 more of the short uprights for the middle sides (stole them from the 3DC day shade and cut them to length as we, the 3DC, hardly ever used all 8 anyway). All looks well with the new shade now but Kings hunt will be the true test. Who's in to giver her a good work out... No need to reply, I'm just say'n! This will end the posts on the topic unless it fails utterly at the hunt or someone has questions.
Congratulations to THL Eilidh Swann, who won the Bard of Caid competition last Saturday!
Huzzah! Yar fertar!
